I am excited to join Safa Community School as Head of Psychology department in August 2023. I qualified as a Psychology Teacher in 2005 andso have been working in this field for several years. I came to Dubai in 2019, after spending one year living in India, working on a voluntary basis educating the street children.
I am originally from the city of Derry in the North of Ireland. I moved to Dubai to with my husband to pursue new experiences in a warmer climate. We have never looked back. I am a Psychology graduate from University of Ulster, Magee, where I obtained a BSC HONS in Psychology. I knew that I had a great interest in teaching so I decided to continue my studies in the UK, where I completed a PGCE in Social Sciences. I have held several roles over the years, including Head of department and Head of Year 12/13. In my spare time I love to take advantage of the gorgeous Dubai weather by going to the beach and to the pool, as well as visiting the many parks and outdoor areas, with my baby girl.
I began my teaching career in St Marys college in Derry. This is an outstanding all girls school. I quickly became Head of the Psychology and Sociology department. I remained at the school for 13 years until I decided to opt for a career break and move to India. I travelled around India from 2018-19, based mainly in Delhi. At the beginning of 2018 I decided that I was ready to go back into teaching again. I worked in a school in Dubai for 4 years teaching Psychology GCSE and A Level. I am currently completing my NPQSL.
