I am a British trained Visual Art teacher with 20 years of teaching experience in both UK and International Schools. I have taught creative subjects across the Key Stages and have worked with pupils aged from 18 months to 18 years old.
Specialisms include Fine Art, Textiles Art and Photography, other areas of experience include 3D Design and Graphics. Areas of responsibilities have included Curriculum Leader for Art & Design and Head of Art & Design Technology. During my time in the UAE I have developed a great respect for local culture and customs and strive to build this into my teaching practice. I have supported many local arts initiatives including art competitions with SMCCU, BSME and Dubai Cares, as well as organising visits to local art exhibitions at Art Alserkal Avenue, Gate Village at DIFC, Masdar City and Louvre Abu Dhabi.
I joined Safa Community School as Head of Art in September 2019. I have taught in Dubai since 2012 with 2 years teaching experience at GEMS Wellington Academy in Silicon Oasis and 5 years at Horizon International School in Umm Suqeim.As well as drawing and painting in my spare time I enjoy photography, cooking & snorkelling. Contributions towards ECAs include the Art Ambassadors program which I have introduced to Safa, this has involved pupils participating in events such as the BSME Art Competition, the Big Draw Event, Dubai Portrait Artist of the Year Competition and the school mural initiative.
