First of all I am so excited to join Safa Community School. I am currently living and working in Dubai and after visiting your school, I knew I had to come and teach there. I am a very bubbly person and believe that laughter is the best medicine. I am a 100% a morning person; I wake up and spring out of bed ready to seize the day. I can’t wait to meet my new class and have the best year full of lots of laughter and learning.
When I am not in school you will find me either at the gym or socialising with my friends. I am very active and will give any sport, game or exercise class a try. I particularly enjoy CrossFit, and since moving to the warmer climate, I have realised I like running outside too. I tend to start my weekends with a long run along Kite Beach or down on the Palm. There is something very satisfying about hitting my daily 10,000 steps before 10am. I have just recently signed up to do my first ever marathon which I will complete in 2023. As well as enjoying exercise, I am a big foodie. Even though I am not the best chef, and I am terrible at following recipes, I enjoy cooking and baking. Dubai has so many wonderful restaurants; this is just one of the many reasons why I love living here.
I studied Dance and Professional Practice in university, here I learned how valuable movement is. I am a great advocate of active learning; I enjoy teaching practical and interactive lessons where my students are up and moving around the classroom. I graduated from Chester University back in 2012 and as soon as I had my teaching qualification in my hand, I was on a flight out of the UK to a much warmer location. I lived and worked in Kuwait for seven years before taking a year out of teaching to travel the world. I gave myself a target of hitting fifty countries before I turned thirty. Unfortunately, because of Covid I was stuck on country forty-nine for over a year but recently I was finally able to visit a new country and I am currently on country number 50! I have been in Dubai for two years now and I am super excited to join Safa Community School. Mathematics is one of my favourite subjects because it is immediately transferable to real-life situations, outside of school. I am a keen goal setter and practice gratitude daily; this is something that I will continue to encourage my class to do too. I am a strong believer in life-long learning, and she constantly seek opportunities to develop, learn and experience new things. My character strengths are zest, kindness, humour, leadership and perseverance. Perseverance is key! Two of my favourite quotes are ‘Progress over perfection’ and ‘consistency is key’.
