I am originally from Yorkshire in the North of England, teaching in Surrey and central London, before moving to the UAE. I am proud to be the new Head of English at Safa, and grateful for the warm welcome.
I truly believe in a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom, and have always enjoyed getting involved in wider school life. I love music and theatre, and have been involved in directing school productions, as well as supporting the school choir. I am still very proud of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold award, and have a 4th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. This year I returned to the classroom to study for an additional AS Level in Psychology, which has been an invaluable experience in reminding me what hard work our amazing students do in preparing for their own exams!
I studied Comparative Literature at King’s College London, before pursuing my Master’s degree in Shakespeare in History at UCL. I gained my PGCE in Secondary English Education from the Institute of Education, London and am now in my 11th year of teaching. I have had the privilege to experience a variety of roles in my teaching career, including Head of House, Head of Year, and Head of English. I have been teaching in Dubai now for 3 years, specialising in A Level Literature.
