Matt Journeaux

Hello, I’m Mr Journeaux and I have been the Head of Sports Department here at Safa Community School since 2016.

About Me

I have been teaching PE & Sports for 13 years in both the UK & more recently in Dubai. I graduated in 2008 from St Mary’s University College, Twickenham with a Bsc in Sports Science. From here I went on to do a Graduate Teacher Programme at the University of Southampton from which I qualified in 2010. My main sport is Cricket and have been very lucky through the years to play with and against a number of current & ex international cricketers. Further to this, in 2015 & 2017 the team I captained were crowned ‘National Indoor Cricket Champions’ in the UK. My passion now lies with educating and empowering young students to appreciate the benefits that a lifelong ‘healthy active lifestyle’ can bring. Alongside this, helping  students progress in both their PE & Sporting lives motivates me and keeps me focus driven.

My Experience

I joined Safa Community School in 2016 as ‘Head of Primary PE’ & later became the ’Head of Sport’. Previously taught for 9 years in the UK as a PE & Maths Teacher. I have a genuine passion for all Sports. Main sports that I have competed in through the years include: Football, Cricket, Rugby, Touch Rugby, Golf, Skiing & Athletics. I organise and run ECAs for the entire Whole School Sports Programme here at SCS.
