Lynsey Scholes

My name is Lynsey Scholes and I have taught English, Film and Media for nineteen years. I graduated from the University of Manchester in 1999 with a degree in English and Linguistics. Following this, I completed a Masters in English and a Postgraduate Degree in Secondary English Education, again at the University of Manchester.

About Me

I taught for nine years in Manchester where I was responsible for both GCSE and A Level Media and Film Studies, alongside teaching English at GCSE and A Level. I moved to Abu Dhabi in 2011. For four years I worked at The British School Al Khubairat before moving to Dubai and eventually taking up a position at The English College in 2016. I was the Careers Coordinator as well as teacher of English. I supported students in gaining work experience; writing university applications for the UK and worldwide; managing stress, and interview preparation. I most recently lived in Bahrain where I worked at St Christopher’s School. I was Second in English and responsible for GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature. I am now Literacy Coordinator at Safa.

My Experience

Although English is my main subject, Film and Media are subjects which I am passionate about too. This is often evident in the ECAs I offer. Previously, I have managed school magazines and student newspapers as well as film clubs and school media projects. I am also experienced in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and have been an assistant leader of the Model United Nations. I currently deliver the KS3 English Challenge ECA.
