I am originally from a seaside village called Lahinch in Co. Clare, Ireland. I love to get home as often as I can, however, this will be my 8th year living and teaching in Dubai and I’m ever so happy to call it my ‘second home.’
Before teaching I studied New Media and English at the University of Limerick, Ireland. As part of my degree, I travelled to Spain to teach children (from 6-18 years old) and thoroughly enjoyed it! This sparked my passion for working with young people. Making up recipes, re-reading my favourite books and exploring new places with my family, are a few of the things I get up to when I am not teaching. With two dogs and two small babies, our family loves to keep active by swimming, dancing and doing yoga. This will be my second year in Safa, I can’t wait to meet your child and start our Year 1 adventure together.
My teaching journey started ten years ago in the University of East London, where I completed my PGCE in Primary education. I then enjoyed three years teaching Foundation Stage in Barking and Dagenham before moving to Dubai. My 10 years of classroom experience is made up of FS1, FS2 and Year 1 teaching. In my classroom, teaching and learning is ‘hands on,’ experiential, and engaging. Enabling children to become resilient, life long learners is always at the forefront of my teaching.
