I am originally from London, but studied English at university in Scotland. In 2013, I started teaching and received my QTS from the Institute of Education at University College London. In this time, I have been fortunate to teach in London, Dubai and even Tanzania. As a form tutor at SCS, I am focused on providing a positive school experience for all students and to support their academic, social and personal growth and development. My philosophy as an English teacher is to help students appreciate both the power and beauty of language and literature while promoting the development of key reading, writing and speaking skills.
I first moved to Dubai in 2013 and have no plans to return home any time soon. In my spare time, I enjoy getting out as much as possible and really like going hiking or playing golf.
This is my third year at Safa Community School and my eighth year of teaching. In my previous school, I was the head of year 9. In 2016, I volunteered for six months in a school in rural Tanzania; this offered me a very different outlook on and approach to teaching.
In the past, I have enjoyed getting involved in a range of extracurricular activities including a school newspaper, chess club and coaching rugby. I look forward to continuing my involvement in the school’s great community.
