Hello, my name is Christina Spong and I teach Spanish at SCS.
I am bilingual in Spanish and English. Having grown up in a Colombian family, I spent many summers holidaying in Colombia. I was lucky enough to live in Bogotá teaching English to University Students
I studied Spanish Language and English Language at The University of Surrey. After University I worked in the City of London for a Spanish Insurance Company (Mapfre asistencia) But City life wasn’t for me, so I embarked upon a Postgraduate in teaching, as I enjoyed my time teaching back in Colombia.
I moved to Dubai in 2013 and have taught Spanish and French in various schools across Dubai.
I am married and have two small daughters. Both of them with Hispanic names!
When I am not being a ‘mum’ I like to do stand-up paddle boarding.
I have been teaching MFL since 2008. I started off teaching in my home county of Essex and had the pleasure of visiting schools around the county to bring back creative ways of teaching in my current school. I have also taught in Hampshire and Devon, before moving to Dubai in 2013. I then taught at GEMS Wellington International School. During my time there I taught French at a primary level and Key Stage 3. I taught Spanish at Key Stage 3 and 4 and I also flew to India to undergo IB training. I have now taught Spanish at Safa for over a year and enjoy passing on my passion for the Spanish language and all things Latin American too.
