I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year in SAFA school in my role as Head of Physics.
Every child is naturally inquisitive and wants to learn about the world around them. I strongly believe that students learn best when they enjoy and are interested in the topics being taught. I enjoy the practical element of science and like to develop the practical investigative skills of students so that they can think critically and scientifically about the world around them. I very much enjoy travelling. During my career as a teacher I have organised and led students on expeditions to climb mount Kilimanjaro, as well as on treks in the Andes in Argentina, and in Borneo. I would welcome the opportunity to do something similar for the students of SAFA school. I have always been a keen sportsman and played rugby at club level for many years. I still enjoy training, keeping fit, walking, and cycling. I hope I can use my skills and experience to good use helping to coach one of the school rugby teams.
I have been in Dubai for two years and thoroughly enjoyed my role as Head of Science department in GEMS First Point School. I am an experienced teacher having been teaching for 25 years in the UK both in England and Wales. For the past 13 years I was Head of Science in a Welsh language school in South Wales. I was responsible for setting up a new department in a brand school. This was a challenging but rewarding project which I enjoyed very much.
