Alex Stutchbury is a teacher and artist living between Dubai and London. He teaches Art & Design to pupils, from 12 years old to university level, and has previously instructed Life Drawing classes to GCE students. He also sells his original paintings and limited edition prints around the world, including Europe, North America, the Middle East and Australia.
Stutchbury studied Art and Illustration at Brighton University and at the University of the Creative Arts. He won the D&AD ‘Best New Blood’ award for his Final Major Project book ‘Nightlife’ and was also awarded ‘Curator’s Choice for Illustration’ by NOISE Festival.com. He is trained in several artistic disciplines including drawing, print making and clay model-making, with his main passion being painting. The majority of his own work focuses on Formula 1. He has created a range of collections focusing on the cars and drivers of this hugely popular sport, including the ‘F1 Champions Collection’ and ‘Ferrari Collection’. His other work is predominantly based on his three other main interests – film, sport and music. He produces both colour and black & white pieces portraying iconic actors, musicians and sporting stars from past and current times. Stutchbury also produces both private and commercial commissions, including a work for The Guardian Newspaper and animal charities. To support his teaching, Stutchbury produces animations and time-lapse videos which can be viewed on his YouTube channel.
Alex Stutchbury joined SCS in 2022 after a 9-year spell of being the Head of Art at Ilford County High School, a high-achieving Grammar school in London. He continuously enjoys contributing to the lives of students growing up in thriving multi-cultural cities, and has developed an ethos and culture of high expectations amongst his students. During the Covid-19 pandemic he began creating ‘ARTClass’ tutorials on YouTube, so pupils could access demos and develop their own skills at home. Over 33,000 minutes have been watched since the pandemic started in 2020. These are accessible to everyone through the www.alexstutchbury.com website and on Alex Stutchbury’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe18KPQsk1FGPojy6fB5VAw
