Year 7 : Y7 is an introductory year to the basic formal elements in Art and Design, students will be introduced to lots of skills and techniques with the core skills being based around observational recording and developing their visual literacy
Year 8 : Y8 is focused on developing and building on skills and experiences explored and introduced in Y7 from a design and craft perspective. In conjunction with the continuation of the development of the core skills of observational recording and visual literacy, students will be introduced to the design process and will work from briefs to research artists and craftspeople, explore materials and processes, develop ideas and eventually refine them to create a ‘final piece’.
Year 9 : Y9 is focused on the further development of skills and experiences explored and introduced in Y7 & 8 from conceptual perspective. In conjunction with the continuation of the refinement of the core skills of observational recording, visual literacy and the design process, students will continue to work from briefs researching artists and craftspeople, explore materials and processes, develop ideas into a final artwork but this time they will start to consider why, and begin to explore how artists and designers send hidden messages through their work.
